Leviticus 23:1-37 (KJV)
1 And the LORD
spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel,
and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye
shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my
feasts. 3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is
the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work
therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.
4 These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations,
which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. |

THE PROPHETIC AND
SPIRITUAL APPLICATIONS OF THE FEASTS OF THE LORD |
|
PROPHETIC
APPLICATIONS |
|
A number of
believers are beginning to understand that the Biblical
Feasts of the LORD are for our benefit, yet today.
However, there is still much that is not fully
understood about how to observe (or keep) them.
Certainly, there is no temple in Jerusalem, in which one
could fulfill the Torah requirements of coming to
Jerusalem for these three annual feasts. However, most
believers would agree that the significance of the
feasts today is in understanding the prophetic role of
the feasts pertaining to the first and second coming of
Yeshua Jesus Christ. We understand that the Spring
feasts of Pesach (Passover), Unleavened Bread and
Firstfruits were fulfilled in Yeshua Jesus’ sacrifice of
Himself as the Passover Lamb, the unblemished, perfect
sacrifice, who became “sin” (leaven) for us, and was
resurrected to life (the firstfruits of the
resurrection) on the Feast of Firstfruits. The Feast of
Shavuot/Pentecost was fulfilled at the time of the
outpouring of the Holy Spirit recorded in the book of
Acts, and this feast is still being fulfilled as
believers receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Yet to be
fulfilled are the Fall Feasts, which portray the second
coming of Yeshua Jesus Christ. The Feast of Yom Teruah,
the Feast of Trumpets (the awakening blast), represents
a time of judgment and resurrection of the dead
(referred to as “the day no one knows” because it falls
on the beginning of the month - a New Moon). Ten days
later, is Yom Kippur ( the Day of Atonement) - known as
the “Day of Covering” or “Face to Face,” which
represents the 2nd coming of Christ, when the
nation of Israel will accept the atoning sacrifice of
Yeshua Jesus, and He will come to earth to rule and
reign. This is followed by the Feast of Sukkot
(Tabernacles), when Yeshua Jesus will celebrate the
wedding feast and will dwell (Tabernacle) on earth and
rule reign from Jerusalem for 1000 years, after which
there will be the new heavens and a new earth - eternity
(the olam haba). |

PASSOVER - (REDEMPTION - LIFE - NEW
BIRTH):

Your position in Christ. Just as
the Israelites had to apply the blood over the doorposts
of their houses in Egypt in order for the death angel to
pass over without taking the life of the firstborn, one
must apply the blood of the Passover Lamb (Yeshua Jesus)
to the doorpost of their heart. This is done by
acknowledging that we have inherited a sin nature from
Adam, and that we deserve death - the law of sin and
death. When we repent of past sins and accept the
atoning blood of Yeshua Jesus as payment for our sins,
we spiritually apply the blood of Yeshua Jesus to the
doorpost of our heart. We are “born again.” Only the
blood of Jesus Christ (the Firstborn of the Father) can
take away our inherent sin, and give us life, so that
the death angel must pass over us.
UNLEAVENED BREAD - (PURITY, DIE TO SIN):

Spiritual Applications Top of

In the Exodus
(Passover) story, the children of Israel had to flee from
Egypt before their dough could rise: “And the people took
up their dough before it was leavened” (Ex. 12:34). So,
too, believers must flee from Egypt (a type of “the
world”). One must flee from sin (leaven).
FIRSTFRUITS - (RESURRECTION - NEW MAN, WATER BAPTISM):
Moses and the
children of Israel crossed over the Red Sea 3 days after
Passover. They were all “baptized into Moses in the cloud
and in the sea” (I Corinth 10:2). Just as Christ was
resurrected to new life, so we must be raised to “new life”
through the waters of baptism. “He who believes and is
baptized, shall be saved” (Mark 16:16).
SHAVUOT/PENTECOST - (CONSECRATION: SET APART - BAPTISM OF
HOLY SPIRIT)

It is taught by
the Jewish sages that Abba Father chose (set apart) the
Children of Israel and gave them the 10 Commandments
(revealed His Word) on Shavuot. This was a “ketuba”
(marriage contract) in which He betrothed Himself to them,
and promised them His love, His protection, and a home (a
land). Traditionally, in the Jewish wedding, the bridegroom
betroths himself to his bride by bringing her gifts. It is
her choice to accept the gifts. The believer accepts and
receives of gifts of the Holy Spirit through the baptism of
the Holy Spirit.
FEAST
OF TRUMPETS (SPIRITUAL WARFARE/APPLICATION OF GIFTS OF THE
SPIRIT

Spiritual Applications Top of

The Feast of
Trumpets is known as “the day of the awakening blast.” Once
receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the believer is
empowered for spiritual warfare- the sound of the trumpet.
He must be “awake” and be alert. He must put on the “whole
armor of God” - the helmet salvation, the breastplate of
righteousness, the belt of truth, the sandals of the gospel
of peace, and take up the shield of faith, and the sword of
the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Eph 6:10-13).
Accordingly, just as the prophetic application for the Feast
of Trumpets points to a time of “judgment” the believer must
judge his actions, walk in truth and righteousness.
DAY OF
ATONEMENT - (SANCTIFICATION: CLOTHED IN WHITE - THE BRIDE)

This day
known in Hebrew as Yom Kippur meaning “a covering.” It is a
day of “afflicting one’s soul,” fasting, and repentance.
This is spiritually applied to the believer, who is clothed
in “righteousness” with the testimony of the blood of Yeshua
Jesus Christ, who obey His commandments, and seek to draw
near to the Lord, to be pleasing in His sight. This is the
process of sanctification - a spiritual picture of a pure
and spotless bride adorned in a white robe of righteousness

This feast
portrays a time of the LORD dwelling with the believer.
Just as a home is to provides a safe and secure environment,
so too, there comes a time when the believer is at peace.
His walk with the LORD is such that he knows he is safe and
secure in the knowledge and wisdom of the LORD, walking and
dwelling (at one) with Him as a way of life We must enter
into His rest, and dwell with Him.

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron
in the land of Egypt, saying, 2 This month shall be unto you
the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the
year to you. 3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel,
saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them
every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a
lamb for an house: 4 And if the household be too little for
the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take
it according to the number of the souls; every man according
to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb
shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall
take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: 6 And ye shall
keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the
whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in
the evening. 7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it
on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the
houses, wherein they shall eat it. 8 And they shall eat the
flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread;
and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Eat not of it raw,
nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head
with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. 10 And ye
shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that
which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with
fire. 11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded,
your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye
shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S passover. 12 For I
will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite
all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast;
and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I
am the LORD. 13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon
the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass
over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you,
when I smite the land of Egypt. 14 And this day shall be unto
you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD
throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an
ordinance for ever. 15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened
bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your
houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day
until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation,
and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to
you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which
every man must eat, that only may be done of you. 17 And ye
shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this
selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of
Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations
by an ordinance for ever. 18 In the first month, on the
fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened
bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.
19 Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses:
for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul
shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he
be a stranger, or born in the land. 20 Ye shall eat nothing
leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened
bread. 21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and
said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your
families, and kill the passover. 22 And ye shall take a bunch
of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and
strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that
is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of
his house until the morning. 23 For the LORD will pass through
to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the
lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the
door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your
houses to smite you. 24 And ye shall observe this thing for an
ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever. 25 And it shall
come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will
give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep
this service. 26 And it shall come to pass, when your children
shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? 27 That ye
shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD’S passover, who
passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt,
when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the
people bowed the head and worshipped. 28 And the children of
Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and
Aaron, so did they.
